Minimal collection noted in pelvis
I have been an RDMS for 13 years and work in ultrasound dept. The word "anechoic"is a descriptive word for what shade of grey the echoes from the soundwaves came back as in the ultrasound picture. Anechoic means WITHOUT ECHOES,so the area behind your uterus, which is the posterior cul de sac, was black in the picture (no echoes).
Anechoic (black) areas on ultrasound indicate fluid. In your case, "free fluid" just means water that was seen in that area was not encapsuled. A small amount of free fluid in the post CDS is physiologicially normal, especially in a person that is well hydrated and drinks plenty of water.. A cyst is an encapsulated area of fluid,it is not a tumor,it is more like a little water balloon..,cysts also show up on ultrasound as black (anechoic) areas. Cysts are round and anechoic, with a wall around them. So are Early pregnancies, a tiny water sac.So the radiologist that wrote your report simply recommended that your doctor find out if the little sac of water in your uterus was a cyst (benign) ,or a small gestational sac (pregnancy beginning) They look the same. fundal means"up high in the womb (uterus), the best place for a new pregnancy. Endometrium is the lining of the uterus that sheds each month with menstruation, and where a new pregnancy would implant and begin to grow. I hope this helps clear up the medical words. Take care
Free fluid can be seen in the cul-de-sac with no negative meaning. The tiny fluid collection they found was in the top part of the uterus cavity n they wonder if it is a young pregnancy. If not pregnant, probably nothing serious. Nothing pathological stands out from this report. They have to note what they see, whether it's normal or not. This sounds fine to me. Plz update with details from your doctor if possible... Hope you're okay from the car accident!
