I am 15 years old and I have pain in my back, shoulders to wrists, and hips to ankles and a little pain in a couple small parts of my chest. Its mostly painful in my shoulders, elbows, knees, mid back. I just woke up the morning of 05/22/2015 with this pain and it increased through out the day. My mom wants take me to the hospital for some blood test. What do you think is the problem? Should I get the blood test done?
Dr. Santos. I have basically the same symptoms as above. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I take 75mg of lyrica twice daily. Helps somewhat. The lumps in my shoulders, hips, knees but ESPECIALLY my wrists and thumbs are excruciatingly painful. The C-reactive protein, sedimentation rate, hand xrays and rheumatoid factor blood test...all negative. I don't sleep much...pain radiates throughout my body and when touched in the joints I mentioned...shocks radiate. I can't wash my hair, open bottles, drive, brush my hair or teeth...anything involving my thumbs with much pain...stairs are painful because of my knees...if it's not arthritis...not sure what to think. My doctor put me on an anti-inflammatory last week...it has helped with my chest and stomach pain somewhat...but none of the other pain ...my thumbs aren't clicking as bad..or as often...but pain still there. I massage a topical pain/anti-inflammatory cream (prescription) into my knees/elbows/shoulders/neck/hands nightly. It helps calm down the radiating/throbbing pain somewhat...heating pad helps a little combined with the cream. She referred me to Occupational Therapy. Not sure if she just thinks I'm crazy...since all my tests are negative...or she is just throwing up her hands...I'm at a loss. NOTE: I had 3 disks removed about 10 years ago C5/6/7 and 2 months ago I slightly tore a disk at my tailbone. I'm a mess...I know. I am 52 years old.
I have the same pains. SI JOINT feels locked, lower back pain, shoulder pain (shoulder surgery on right) now left side acting up. Right Knee surgery but left knee acting up too. right foot surgery, left foot acting up and ankles. Toes numbness and every now and then a shooting pain down my left leg. neck pain, chest pain, headaches, hip pain both hips need surgery. I need all these joint surgeries, but continue pain after surgery and in areas I haven't had surgery yet. My fourth knee doctor recommends rhuem. arthritis testing. I have had diagnosis of osteoarthritis forever it seems, and patellafemoral arthritis. but since its in all my joints he wants further testing before proceeding with further surgeries. Physical therapy for locked shoulder since surgery. bone spurring both knees and shoulders. So much..Cardiologist feels I even may have arthritis in my chest. I just had venous doppler and have Venous Reflux Disease in both legs now. fun fun. I just wish I knew what is causing all of this and living in pain is constant and very tired, don't sleep much, concentration lacking, and forgetting stuff a lot. I don't work. I am trying to get disability but fighting them on that, I haven't worked in a year and the doctor agrees I shouldn't and would struggle doing so.
Hi,
How are you? I'm sorry to hear what you have been through. Aside from the joint pain, what other symptoms are present? Joint pain can be caused by a variety of issues such as injuries, autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, gout, infections, osteoarthritis, as well as tendinitis. To determine the underlying cause, further evaluation may need to be done such as CBC or blood differential, C-reactive protein, Joint x-ray, sedimentation rate and other blood tests specific to various autoimmune disorders. If pain medications do not help provide relief, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
