I have so many magical Christmas moments, thanks SM for posting this!
I've had so many magical Christmases, but my most memorable was about 15 years ago when my sons thundered down the stairs to open their gifts but each one first went first to our Nativity scene to see that the baby Jesus figure was placed there, by me, on Christmas morning.
That's awesome!!!! That's just incredible. It's something the work that parents put into the little details...that's where the magic is! Love it!
Okay, here is something that I still can't quite figure out . . my parents NEVER told me how this was done . .. and I'm not 8 anymore! But we were leaving on Christmas Eve for a family trip that my grandparents were taking us on. A cruise. Excitingt-- but made Christmas with Santa hard. Our neighbors invited us over for dinner so we went over and had a nice dinner with them . . . very festive. Then we went home and so unexpectedly, There was Christmas!! Walking in that door and the Christmas lights on, Christmas music playing and all of our presents . . .
My parents were at the house eating dinner with us . . that was a tricky one!
Thanks for sharing nursegirl!. Holidays are special. My kids love the 'traditions' even if not that big of a deal. They still wear their bells on Christmas eve (bell necklaces we made years ago that you take off when you go to bed on Christmas Eve so Santa knows you are asleep) and we sing happy birthday to you know who and lots of things that are little in some ways but mean a lot.
Ahhhhh. This is a tough one. I don't think I could narrow it down to just ONE magical moment. I'd definitely say my childhood in general. My Mom made the holidays SO amazing, wonderful, magical. I LOVED baking cookies with her and decorating the tree. Pretty much every tradition we had warmed my heart. I can still get that feeling I had as a kid if I think back to those days.
I'd have to put cookie baking with Mom near the top if not ON the top of the list for me.
I hope my kids feel (and felt...as M is older) the same kind of magic I did as a kid. I cannot hold a candle to my Mom, mothering wise. If anyone in this world was MADE to be a Mom, it's her.
Great thread, sm...I want to hear yours!
