Chronic nasal pain thick mucus

I have been suffering with chronic nasal problems for almost 5 years and ENTs have not been successful in treating me.  I have adult onset of asthma, and I also have major nasal mucous problems that started 5 years ago like a faucet of post nasal drip down my throat choking me and causing me to vomit.   I have dry eyes, nose, and mouth oddly enough.  Now I cannot blow my nose the mucous is stuck and IT HURTS ALL THE TIME.  I use nasal rinses but they do not help.  I have also been on anti-biotics to no avail.  I am beginning to wonder if there is another underlying cause.  Can anyone please help.

Thanks for your input Victoireh,

I had deviated septum surgery 3 times because first doc screwed it up royal, but I have not had my sinuses scraped that I am aware of.  I saw 3 ENT, same hospital system.  The only place I can get free care and 2 of them yelled at me.  My eye doc said I have a probleme and could not believe one of the ENTs said to see a psyciatrist of all things.

I do have GERD but it is not the problem in this case this is all coming from my noes into my mouth and it is AWFUL.  I am on Nexium but only take it when I hve to because I am on so much medication.  Advair, albuteral for asthma, Lipator for cholesterol, xanax for anxiety etc etc etc.  I am also having back problems and I haven't had a good day in 5 years.  It is one thing after another.

Thanks for your help.  I think I need a miracle and I am not extremely old, only 53.

check out empty nose syndrome. A very common thing for those of us who had our sinuses scraped out using old technology. The endoscope using fibre optic technology is amazing and the ENT specialist can see very precisely what is going on in your sinuses. I was able to eliminate some of my problems when I got to see the top sinus specialist here, as he uses that technology and explained to me about the empty nose syndrome. He said that he is busy fixing up all the botch up jobs from the other ENT specialists.

I'm sorry to hear you have so much mucous problems. Have you been checked out for GERD? If the acid/contents of your stomach aspirate high enough up your esophagus it can reach your vocal chords, causing them to produce more mucous. It can even go high enough to irritate your sinuses and cause infections. This type of reflux generally presents only with a cough, and not the normal symptoms of heart burn and the likes that most people suffer from. That's all I can think of that might be existing to aggravate  your upper respiratory system. This can also aggravate your asthma.
