Exercise Induced Hyperventilation ? Nonsense ?

My exercise induced shortness of breath (even after 5 mins walk) is now contributed to hyperventilation. My doctors say I have no lung or heart disorder.  I seem to keep on hyperventilating after exercise. I have no anxiety/depression disorders. Taking medications like SSRI and alprazolam doesn't work. I was told to do breathing exercises, they don't help at all.  Everytime I walk for a few minutes, I get out of breath a little. And I get too out of breath afterwards, sometimes for the whole day. Any suggestions?

Does this happen inside and outside? Year round or during specific seasons?

This relaxation method will help the hyperventilation, as you apply voluntary control.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.
For you, do this very slowly with the eyes closed. You will notice the difference in 10 days, but continue for at least 4 months.

Tried and failed at buteyko. They work on reducing the depth (which isn't the problem for me) but I need to reduce the frequency. It doesn't seem to work well for hyperventilation as well as it works for asthma. I know http://www.physiohypervent.org is much better , but it is going to take a lot of practice (1 hour/day) for months.

Most likely you were not doing correct breathing exercises.
Google "Buteyko" and you will find out how to breathe to get rid of hyperventilation.
There is also yahoo Buteyko message board.
