Low Oxygen Saturation Level

Wondering if anyone has experienced low oxygen saturation levels?  I went to a pulmonary specialist for a consult on sleep apenea.  Took the pulse, blood pressure, etc. and then said "ohhh your oxygen saturation level is 84%.  Kind of low."  He then set me up for a sleep study.  Anyone else experience the same?

Yes you can do something yourself - the technique is described in my post above dated November 14 ,2011
You problem of sleep apnea ,asthma, heart rhythm will all be helped with 30 minutes of anulom vilom, twice a day.
Let me know your O2 readings, after 3 weeks, and what benefit you notice..

I have bad sleep apnea and asthma and have O2 of 94% during the day and 75% during the night.  I'm having heart rhythm problems now and fatigue and 94 even on all my asthma meds and medrol.  Is there anything I can do?

Folks If you are not happy with your physician get a second opinion.

Easier said than done. I live in small town America, If I ask my doctor for a referral to get a second opinion, he will act mad at me. So, I don’t want to do that. But my insurance will not pay for a second opinion unless I have a referral. So, I ask my doctor. He was kind of okay about it. He referred me to a doctor in another town. I cannot drive that far. So, I try to find someone to take me. My doctor asked, “Don’t you have family or friends?” Sadly, I don’t. When I moved to this community 31 years ago, I made friends. Now, they are all dead or have moved away. And family? I have two brothers who live too far away to help me. That’s the only family I have left. I do have a son. He moved 2,000 miles away and hasn’t spoken to me in 4 years. So, what can I do? Keep in mind, that I am getting old, I am sick, and I am crippled. And none of that is your fault! I just want to make a point; it’s easier said than done.

Normal Oxygen saturation is 90-100%. I would advise taking your child to ER to get checked out. This is serious. (I am a nurse)

Normal oxygen saturations are 90%-100%. But if its in the lows 90's you need to go to ER to find cause. Pneumonia sometimes may need to be treated by IV antibiotics at a hospital if oral antibiotics are not working. So if you are have worsening problems with shortness of breath go to ER. (I am a nurse)

Have you had pulmonary function tests performed to rule out any type of lung disease?  I have Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency, a genetic form of emphysema that didn't really manifest itself with symptoms until I was about 46 years old.  You can have a blood test to rule out Alpha One.  Good luck.
