Lung Cancer

My mom in law recently was diagnosed with lung cancer that had spread to her liver. she has recieved one cycle of chemo like 8 days ago. she is not eating hardly anything. we are giving her boosts, ensure things of that nature.  this morning my husband noticed she had brown stuff coming from her nose and mouth.  an ambulance was called and they rushed her to the hospital.  she talks gibberish the last couple of days. she was home.  anyway, the doctor at the er said she was very dehyrated, low blood pressure, a fever and has an infection.  they are admitting her to the ICU.  my husband, (her son) seems to be in some sort of denial.  but i think death is near.  but i could be wrong, (hope so),  she is 91.  anyone have any opinions?  is she a hospice candidate?  is this what chemo does?  is she likely gonna get better?  thank you for listening.

She would have to go through the Chemo a little bit longer possibly 2 times a week.

thank you for you response. unfortunatley, she passed a couple of hours ago in the hospital.  my husband called me earlier today and said that the infection entered her bloodstream. so im guessing sepsis set in.  the hospital called and said her body was shutting down and that we should go by her, but, by the time we got there she had already passed. this cancer took her very very fast.  but then again, she was 91 years old.  God bless her.  and thank you again for your response.  have a blessed day.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament. It could be the combined effects of the chemotherapy and the infection. It is difficult to predict the outcome. It depends on the functional status of the vital  organs. If you can get back to me with the values of the critical parameters, I may be able to help you further.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
