Why do chest X-rays have to be repeated?

I am very worried about a radiologist’s request for a repeat X-ray after 6 weeks I presented to Gp with chest infection symptoms. He sent me for chest X-ray after 2 days doc rings to say I have to go for another in 6 wks. I am freaking out. Could it be they think I’ve cancer? Clinical history states on form, recent chest infection radiologist requests repeat in 6 wks. What’s difference between chest infection and pneumonia? That doctor google says can mask cancer

Agree. If initial chest radiograph diagnosed pneumonia, it is common practice to perform repeat study approximately 4-6 weeks after antibiotic treatment to confirm infection has improved/resolved and to exclude underlying cancer.

I'm sure it's just a follow-up to see if the infection is still there or has gone away. I've had several during my current bout of pneumonia, before an after each round of antibiotics. But stay in touch with your doctor if the symptoms get worse.
