I have a friend that has flu like symptos and the Dr. told her it was allergies ,she has chills but no fever,deep dry cough nothing comes up,mucles achs,very tierd but cant sleep and her chest and back hurt somuch from hacking ...what can this beed .her doc ran no tests or took no xrays.......

It may also be from environmental allergies I get similar I have concluded tht\at the spraying they are doing or some radiation from Fukushima are the culprits ..Ask for a heavy metal test see what toxins have been absorbed

Hello and hope you are doing well.

If she does not have fever then it is unlikely that the cough is due to an infection. Also, infection usually causes a productive cough with sputum. The other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the wind pipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people. Talk to her GP about the other causes for cough in the meantime she could try warm salt water gargles and breathing exercises.
