I'll try to make this as brief as I can. I am 50 Y.O. male.
Had pain in uretha, went to GP, tests for all STDs, only positive for HSV1 (cold sores as child) but he tells me thinks pain in uretha is herpes. Doesn't go away for months sends me to urolgist who diagnosis me with prostatitis, gives me 30 days supply of cipro, then another 30 days then another 30 days. I tell him I think the Cipro has given me a yeast infection. He looks at my red scrotem and the flaky skin on the head of my penis and tells me it looks normal to him. Funniest thing to me is the reason Dr. diagnosed prostatitis is because all tests were negative, no inflamtion no cancer, had digital exam, ultrasound and MRI.
I get relief from over the counter yeast medication but keeps coming right back. Now I realize I play hockey twice a week and perhaps my equipment is infected.
personal life all messed up, do not know if it safe to have sex and have not for almost a year.
My questions: Could the pain in my uretha been yeast or fungal? Who should I go see, I mean what kind of Dr.; who can tell if my HSV1 is genital or not?
