Guys I'd love to hear from anyone who has completely cured their MG infection. Shoot me an inbox. I was infected, treated and "cleared" of MG about 6 years ago yet still suffer so many symptoms. I'd love to share stories or info which could potentially help others. This infection is bigger than anyone gives it credit for. I believe that even the doctors don't know enough about it yet and try to brush it off.

Had an HIV test this week and it was negative, fortunately. I guess next one is the three month as standard.
Considering that it's now supposed to be the second most prolific STD in the States, how come it's so little heard of? I would suggest that's because it's historically been hard to test - and because the numbers of people with it have been small. Maybe it's just from where I'm standing, but this thing looks to be getting a lot bigger soon. Unfortunately.
Good luck Abhi, hope it all goes alright. Yeah I saw that post about Rifampicin. Maybe it worked because it worked alongside the Moxifloxacyn? I'm no doc, so I wouldn't know. But best of luck with it mate. You have to keep everyone involved with the results. MG is turning into a nightmare to treat.
I too was worried about coinfection with HIV but had multiple 4th gen tests with the last one at 11 weeks 5 days post exposures. Thankfully all negative. Negative for all STIs except MG. My next option is to try Moxi and hopefully that will get rid of it. Not sure if I should try Moxi alone or with Rafampicin as someone has reported on this forum thats what worked for him. Online sources say MG is not sensitive to Rifampicin. Wish I could ask the forum docs about what I should try.
It's a shame they're not on it any more. However I think newer information such as that about mycoplasma needs refreshing.
I'm in the situation where, having had oral sex, I've inherited NGU. It's mycoplasma at the bottom of it, and yet I can't get rid of it. Not only that but I'm in fear of a co-infection with HIV. Mycoplasma Genitalium appears particularly nasty especially compared with Gonorrhoea and Chlamydia.
Try to search the Expert forums, while the Dr's are not on the site anymore they have left a great wealth of knowledge.
I've only had two loads of Azithromycin but I've got NGU still. Hoping to go for moxifloxacyn next.
Looking at patterns on here, the only successful route appears to be Azithromycin 1.5g and then moxifloxacyn if that fails. Deviation from this route appears troublesome as the mycoplasma adjusts itself.
However I'm not a doc - this is purely from looking at the forums.
This has happened to me as well. Oral/NGU/MG detected through PCR. I've tried 2 weeks of Biaxin followed by 4 weeks of Levofloxacin but the bug still persists. Ryan did u find a cure? What treatment did you follow?
Hi Vance,
Sorry to be contrary (given your excellent responses always) - but there are lots of reports of folk getting M Genitalium after receiving fellatio. There are a good number on these forums, and also on a number of official papers. I get the impression - reading around - that the Urinary Tract is the 'preferred location' for MG but it's not inhibited to being there only.
In my case, that's what happened to me. Oral/NGU/MG.
I've seen some texts which state that it shouldn't be found in the mouth or throat but they appear a bit outdated.
Thanks,
Ryan
The bacteria is not found in the mouth but found in the urinal tract.
Hi Vance, mycoplasma g looks to be gaining ground - unfortunately - as an STD. As I understand it, it's now more prevalent in the U.S. than Gonorrhea. And it seems more difficult to fix.
And it seems to speed with Oral. Possibly anecdotal, but a large number of posts on MedHelp say the same thing - that it was spread with unprotected oral.
Oral sex is low risk and most likely will always be low risk. MG is not testing for a lot because it is not a major concern. It is not transmitted via oral sex.
