misdiagnosed std?

I have had several urinary tract infections lately. I am 47 years old and I seem to get them 2-3 days after having sex with my husband of 22 years. The doctor tested my urine and my white blood cell count was high. She did a swab today and called me within 4 hours telling me that I had an std called trichonomas. She told me to have a conversation with my husband about his fidelity and that we both needed to be treated. Well, naturally this was an awful conversation to have. He was so angry he thinks we have a law suit. He swears that since we met 25 years ago he has been faithful and totally can't understand this diagnosis. He's furious that the doctor would say this to me. I think I have been misdiagnosed. How can I be sure? I know I have been faithful and I do trust my husband. Is there a second test I could take? This is going to ruin my marriage. I have never questioned my husband's fidelity. I don't have alot of the symptoms of the std's. I have pain urinating and frequent, urgent urinating. My stomach is a little bloated. I have no discharge, itching, or smell. Please, can someone help?

This is cah47. I just retested for trich and i tested negative. They made a mistake inthe lab. I have a bacterial infection. Irecommend that everyone who is diagnosed gets a second test and a second opinion. This nearly ruined my marriage of 22 years! My husband is furious for being wrongly accused! This is just my advise from my experience!

You can retest for Trich. In rare cases Trich has been transmitted from non sexual means like a dirty towel or a hot tub, but like I said this is rare. Most of the time it comes from sex outside the marriage.

About a lawsuit there is no ground to stand on and the Dr is right because it is the most common way for Trich to transmit. I say other non-sexual means because there have been a few proven cases but let me stress a few so by no means is is common.

Not pointing the finger at you or husband but normally that is the case.
