Trichomonas was reported on past three pap smears and was treated twice.

Trich wouldn't show on a pap smear, but would on a test of your vaginal secretions.  Has your partner been treated?  Perhaps you are just getting re-infected.  I would certainly be treating it.

I'm under the impression that you should treat trich until it is resolved, but that it can sometimes require multiple treatments. I would suggest having it treated with a course of whatever meds used, and then be retseted and if still present, treat again. Although I was told that there are no long terms effects of having trich for a prolonged period of time it often causes unpleasant symptoms for many women
