ADVICE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! 1ST TIME POSTER

So I don't really know where to begin. I've been in a monogamous relationship for almost five years and have only slept with two men in my life. About a week ago i started feeling some burning and itching in my vaginal area. I thought maybe it was the bodywash that i had just bought causing some sort of irritation but it never went away even after i stopped using it. Also i noticed that the area started to get sore along with the itching so today i took a mirror just to check things out. i noticed three small tears, cuts, abrasions...i'm not really sure. they're small but there is one right above my clit and one on either side of my labia major. they aren't open wounds as far as i can tell, they aren't leaking but they are red and look like some skin is missing...you can definitely tell that they are there...anyways i'm wondering if it sounds like it could be herpes...i have no vaginal discharge or any other symptoms just the cuts and the pain...i was tested for herpes before and it came back negative but i'm wondering if somehow it could have been a false negative. If it doesn't sound like herpes any other ideas of what it could be...i just noticed the cuts today but have had the other symptoms for like a week now...please help because i'm freaking out.

thank you for all of your advice. i really appreciate it. i really had no where else to turn and so i came here. if the test is negative then i won't be worried about it anymore. as i've said before i've been married for almost five years and both my husband and i take our vows very seriously. i had figured that maybe i had gotten it from the one other guy i had slept with before i married and was just asymptomatic until now however if the test is negative then i know that there is really no chance that i can have it. i could have sworn though that they tested me when i was pregnant both times and it came back negative so that part still confuses me...anyways i will let u know how the appointment goes. thank you all so much.

Well, keep your appt, and when you go, talk about your concerns, and ask for a herpes blood test - make sure its a type specific IgG blood test.  It won't be 100% accurate, but at least you'll know its a new infection if you test positive for herpes in a few more months.

well the cuts healed up...by yesterday they were all gone..they didn't scab over or anything there was no discharge. i'm still going to the dr when i have my appt in a month but i read that herpes scabs over so i'm pretty sure thats not what it was. maybe it really was the irritation from the soap

Well thats what i thought, the body wash had exfoliating like pumice in it so i figured if it had gotten down "there" it could have easily scratched or cut it. I even had my hubby look at it and he said that's what it looks like to him. My husband is in med school and educated about that sort of thing but a lot of people have started saying herpes this and herpes that. and someone even mentioned on a different site that they had herpes and it wasn't diagnosed for years and years and that she had cuts like mine so im just not sure. i thought that it would have definitely came up when they did my std testing when i was pregnant but im hearing that it may not have. i'm just going to go to the hospital tomorrow and see what they say.

i've had actual cuts in my vagina. maybe they could be atraight up cuts, since it's still skin and it can get any sort of abrasion like the rest of your body. but you should get tested for all STDs and go to a doctor if you're concerned. it could even be like a yeast infection; you could have cut yourself accidently by scratching or something. the itching and burning is what makes me say that.
just a thought.

I had to switch doctors and the new gyno has no openings for new patients for a month. Like I said it just recently became a concern when i noticed the tears so no I havent spoken to them about it. Honestly I dont evenknow how I could have gotten herpes so thats where I start thinking that it just doesn't make any sense for me to have it but at the same time i know the tears aren't normal. If i Had herpes wouldn't they have found out when they did all the std tests and blood work during my pregnancy which was over two years ago??

It might be.  Why can't you see your gyno for a month?  Do they know you are having symptoms that might be herpes?

If you really can't, then go to an urgent care, but ask them to do a typed culture on it, and if they think it is herpes, ask for meds.

Thank you for your answer. could it still possibly be herpes since the other two are still there? i was on the internet looking for answers and read that herpes can appear as cuts or tears but never really thought that it was herpes. as i've said before i have been tested for stds and all have come back negative. my sister in law has herpes and lived with us for a while and used my towels and things but i know that you can't get it that way. i guess i just want to rule it out as a possiblitity. i can't get in to see my gyno for another month but was thinking of going to urgent care to have it checked out anyways. more than likely i believe its the bodywash but i think its the tears tht are making me concerned that its something more.

More then likely a herpes sore WOULD NOT go away in just one day

Well I looked in the mirror again today and noticed that the one right above my clitoris is gone. The other two are still there they don't seem to be any worse but not better either. I guess I"m just wondering if it was herpes could it really disappear in a day? I know that i didn't have them sooner because i definitely would have investigated the source of the pain. Anyways I've never worried about having any sort of STD like I said I haven't had multiple partners and my husband and I have been together for five years. We have both been tested in that time and haven't come back with anything. I guess I just started feeling fearful because I've never had any kind of issue like this...never even had a yeast infection so I'm just unsure of what could be causing the cuts/abrasions. I think the whole herpes fear came up because my sister in law does have HSV 2 and I heard that it could look like little cuts or scrapes. Do my signs and symptoms seem to be those of herpes? and if so could a herpes sore disappear in a day? I've looked things up on the internet but get so much contradictory information.

It could be herpes, but it could also be an allergic reaction to the body wash, especially if its scented.

You need to get this checked out.  If money/insurance is an issue, call your local std clinic or Planned Parenthood.
