Blood Tests

Can you have Chlamydia if you have a negative blood and urine test 6 months after oral exposure?

No, you can't tell an oral infection in the urine.  Oral tests aren't perfect, but they are the best we have, and they can find gonorrhea, which is much more of a concern orally anyway.

Yes, that's correct, but if its positive you don't really know how accurate it is, and since the swab and urine tests are very accurate, there's really no reason to do a blood test.

Dallasfan incdicates oral\throat testing is unsatisfactory and then mentions a urine test.

Does this mean that if you have an oral infection that it will show in the urine test after a certain amount of time?

What is the great concern with Blood testing?  What I have read is that Blood testing will not indicate a current infection, but it should at least present a confirmed Negative - never had Chlamydia.  Is this correct?

This topic of oral testing seems confusing.

Where would they swab in your mouth?  Seems to very location specific.
What other symptoms would be present if an oral infection occured?

If you performed oral how are tests done to ensure you dont have it?

If oral transmission of chlamydia happens, at best, its rare.  Did you perform oral or receive oral?  If you only received it, you don't need oral testing.

If all of your tests say you don't have it, you don't have it.

Hi

Information read indicates that oral infection is possible.  But as you have indicated, the testing seems impossible. Assuming the oral tests are not satisfactory will a blood test at least reveal exposure.  If blood is negative is there still a chance that infection has occured.  Urine samples are also negative.

Chlamydia is not passed orally..let me start by saying that. In our lab oral testing is just unsatisfactory and the biological make up of Chlamydia precludes oral infection. Now for testing. I don`t recommend blood serology testing for genital Chlamydia testing. It is a waste of time and money. Two good urine tests are available, best results are from first void early moring urine. A swab test from the penis is excelent if the GEN-probe test is used. Best to be seen by a health care professional. Self diagnosis and treatment are not a good idea. Take care.
