Chlamydia negativ but LGV positive

Hello. I was recently at an STD clinic because I had performed unprotected oral sex on a woman. I got symptoms in my throat about 3 days later and they resembled a sore throat. I was swabbed in my throat and urethra. The result came back after 4 days. Negative for chlamydia and gonorrhea. Two days later, another response came for LGV which was positive. I got very scared and called the clinic. They thought a mistake had been made. They said it could not turn out positive for LGV if chlamydia was negative. So they will test me again just in case. The nurse talked to senior doctors, all of whom said must be a mistake. Now I'm super nervous because it was positive. So my question is. Are they right? Can't LGV be positive if chlamydia isn't? Best regards. Male age 27

I agree with this. LGV isn't that common in most places, and this testing would be unusual. Test again and see what happens.

Let us know.

It can happen, but its not common really. Get another test done and make a move then. Oral is low risk.
