I would appreciate some sexual health advice on my situation. About 5 months ago I received brief unprotected oral sex (1 minute max) from a women who is not my girlfriend – this is something I deeply regret. I had sex with my girlfriend a few days after this exposure.
I was completely unaware that oral sex had any risk until I went on the internet 8 weeks after this exposure. I have since read that oral sex is very safe but still a ‘slight’ risk and if infected I would have obvious symptoms (which I didn’t have), I decided to get tested to be safe.
MY SITUATION:
1. I was tested 8 weeks after the exposure for Chlamydia, NGU and Gonorrhoea (all negative) - she had no signs of infection round her mouth so decided not to test for other infections.
2. Shortly after this negative test I read that male Gonorrhoea in some cases can self-cure in an average of 6 weeks. This got me a little worried in case I self-cured before the negative test and unknowingly passed the infection to my girlfriend.
3. To be extra safe, I tested again after 12 weeks to allow time (4 weeks of sex) for potential reinfection (again negative).
4. Based on the information above, can I now be confident that me and my girlfriend were not infected?
I have had sex with my girlfriend over 50 times since this exposure and haven’t had symptoms. If possible, I would like to move on safety without further worry.
