Risk of STI

So on 11/30 I had an exposure. Male to male frontage. Penis between thighs from the back. NO Penetration. Penis near anus. The other party ejaculated on me mostly my shorts but I don’t recall. I got super nervous this has never happened and his status is unknown.

That night I went home and looked on google of transmission was possible from semen on skin or could the semen have gone into my anus.

I could not sleep. The next morning I realized I had a sore near my anus more than likely from frottage. I went to a health clinic to be proactive (pep). When I got there I had 2 quick test done and they said they were not conclusive but has to be treated as a positive they put me on bikvatry for tx and/or pep. Since I knew I hadn’t had any exposures and was tested a year ago.

The NP thought the cut on my anus was related to syphylis or Gonnoreah. I was in denial and went and got a full panel of blood work the next day all negative 2 days after exposure

I called the clinic back and they advised me to finish the pep just in case. I’ve had diahrrea twice and the side effects are terrible. I’ve been so stressed out and don’t know what to do. I have 5 days of pep left.

Am I at risk if he was positive?
I’m stressing the f out please advise

I have been advised this is not a risk for hiv. I went back and got an hiv test 28 days after.

I’m experiencing a lot of stomach cramping and some discharge and 1 day of diahrrea. What are my risk for Sti are these symptoms?

As our members have told you clearly, you had no risks, we are sure your test will be negative.  We wish you the best.

You say he ejaculated on your shorts - did you have your underwear or any clothing on when this frottage happened? If so, was your anus covered?

If your anus covered, there's no risk for anything. Taking prep was not necessary, clothed or not.

So I'm a little confused here - was this intercrural sex, also known as thigh sex, where his penis was in between your thighs, and it was like non-penetrative sex? Or was this just some rubbing of his penis between your thighs and near the anus for a bit? How long did this last? Was lube used?

I ask because there may be a risk for HPV, herpes or syphilis, but the risk is probably really low because the skin on your thighs is too thick for anything to penetrate, and if lube or lotion was used, that would ease the friction, lowering the risk.

You did nothing that would give you anything that would cause discharge, and no STD causes diarrhea. That and the stomach cramping could be side effects of the prep, though.

If the discharge is clear, that could be normal.

I wouldn't overly worry about this. If your penis wasn't inserted into anything, and no one inserted their penis into you, the chances of getting anything are very low, or zero, depending on the infection.

Thank you for your response.

So the semen got on my shorts possibly me, I had a cut the next morning. I assume due to friction. Which alarmed me, semen on the cut scared me. I finished my pep course 12/28 and tested negative for hiv. My stomach has not been right since the medication

This lasted for maybe 20 minutes and it was rubbing from behind through the thighs. There was no visible cuts or sores on him.
Does my reply change anything?
Hoping my additional information didn’t change anything ???
I'm still a little confused - did you have shorts on while this happened?

Semen on a cut is a theoretical risk, meaning it could happen, but probably won't. There has to be enough virus present in order to transmit, and in one drop of semen that lands on a small cut, there probably isn't. Also, the process of it going from your shorts to your cut means it was exposed to air, which means it had died, or started dying.

I don't know why you took pep, as you probably didn't need it. You've only been off the pep for a couple of weeks. If your stomach doesn't get better soon, follow up with the doctor that prescribed it to you. That's really important. Depending on the type of pep you were on, it could have caused liver damage. It's unlikely, but check with your doctor.
My shorts were pulled down. I don’t recall, the semen could’ve gone directly on me and or from my shorts. T

They gave me pep due to the theoretical risk I’m assuming
Ohh that makes much more sense now.

HIV without penetration is always a theoretical risk. Taking pep for this was a serious over-reaction. You've been told this all before, though.

The risk for an STD is very, very low as well. Most STD transmission requires penetration, as I've already explained. The semen on your cut is really a non-issue.
Thank you! i can’t stop stressing.
Is anxiety a normal thing for you? If it is, that's your concern now, not STDs. You should talk to your doctor about anxiety, and ask for a referral for counseling, and the benefits/risks for medication. (I'm not advocating medication - that's a decision you'll make with your doctor.)

But please address that. It's important.
No anxiety isn’t an issue. I think things happened very fast. When I went to the pep clinic my rapid test came back positive. This set the tone for me. It’s hard to trust after that.

I will try to get through the next few months and retest for piece of mind. I have not had sexual encounter with my gf  for a few weeks sometime. With the worry or concern of giving her an sti
I'm sure this would have been explained to you, either by the clinic, or in the HIV forum if you've posted there, but if you tested the next day, or even a couple of days later, your body wouldn't have had time to make antibodies, if you'd had a risk.

How long were you on pep for? Pep is 30 days.

If you had truly been HIV positive, that would have been from a prior exposure, not the one you had the night before. If they didn't explain that to you, they did you a real disservice. Did they do any kind of confirmation testing? Refer you to a doctor for this?

If you are still so worried, just go get tested for everything. It's been long enough. You don't need to wait for a few months. You had no risk for HIV, because you weren't penetrated, nor did you penetrate. If you must test for that, test at 30 days after you stop pep. You can test for everything else now.

Put this behind you. Test if you need to do that for peace of mind (you have no reason to test, medically).
They explained this but I hadn’t had any exposures. They wanted me to follow up with blood work. But it was clear in their mind I was positive and treated me positive. Prep was 28days. I retested a day later different clinic and had full panel of Sti 4th gen and got my negative from them.

Pep was given for exposure/ and or treatment. Then I followed up with blood work on the 28th day of exposure and last day of pep and it was negative 4th gen test not the same clinic that gave me pep.

The clinic that gave me pep said no further testing is required.
I'm confused by the timeline here.

You said the encounter was on 11/30.

In your original post, on 1/15, you said you had 5 days of pep left. If you took 28 days of pep starting on Dec 1, or even Dec 2, you should be long finished with that. Did you start taking that right away, within 72 hours from the encounter?

No testing was ever needed, nor was any pep. They've done you a huge disservice here, at least based on what you're saying.
Sorry, my encounter was 11/30 I started pep on the 12/1 finished 12/28. I was so worried about hiv I didn’t even think Sti. I copied my post to post on the std forum  and didn’t update completely.

Oh got it, thanks.

You don't need to wait to test for anything - there's no reason this should take months longer. You don't need to test - you really had no risk, but at the most, if you even had a risk, you'd have to wait another week or so to test for HIV taking the pep.

But you had no risk for anything, so testing would be for peace of mind only.
Does this apply to STD not including hiv ?
It applies to everything, including HIV. If you had a reason to be concerned about anything, I'd tell you.
Thank you! i have not had any sexual relations and my partner is questioning . I’m hypersensitive and swear I’m developing all these symptoms
That's anxiety. It's a hyper-awareness of the area, and you are noticing things that are normal - maybe little muscle twitches, itches, etc., and maybe imagining things that aren't.

Anxiety can create real symptoms, and guilt can absolutely mess with your head. You could also be having side effects from pep. If you can't let this go, it's time to see a counselor. You aren't alone - this forum is full of people just like you.

Best of luck.
Just left the clinic I had a full panel with swabs. 3 days before the 28 day after pray for me
