What's my deal?

2 weeks ago I developed a small amount white urethral discharge when awakening and burning/itching with or after urination.Never had this before. Have had oral sex with multiple male partners in past, and occasional limited unprotected anal sex with one partner. went to the doctor and chlamydia/gonorrhea urine test was negative (no swab), but the symptoms didn't go away. Now they want to just treat me with Zithro/Supra. What should I do?

Then you can try the meds or follow up again with your doctor.

Its not an std concern, so you should post in the urology forum.

I think it was negative. The report to me said simply negative for any sign of infection.

i think they decided to do the urine culture at the last minute anyway, thinking it was very unlikely. I will have to check as they only reported the neg chlamydia and gonorrhea.

I don't see a need for antibiotics if they can't identify a bacteria.  That seems like a waste of time, and could hamper testing for the next few weeks, so I would advise against it.

It could be e coli, but a urine culture would be able to find that.  Have they done that - they send it off to the lab, let it grow, and it takes a few days.

Thanks. I guess you would recommend against the antibiotics at this point?

If its not going away, and all your tests are normal, you'll need to see a urologist.  The discharge in the morning is not alarming - that can happen to any man, but the burning should be checked.

If you are drinking a lot of coffee or soft drinks, or alcohol, you might try limiting that in the meantime to see if that helps.

Did they check your urine for white blood cells? Do a prostate exam?
