Could someone please answer my question. I had a RPR test done b/c i'm getting married.. And my results came back and said Active. Please Retest..Does this mean I hve syphilis? I just had a baby a year ago and was tested for this already. What are the shances this is a false positive? and how long does it take to cure? I'm getting married in 3 weeks.PLEASE HELP. Thanks

Get a retest, I am also married (faithfully), I am a paramedic and I get exposed to blood all the time.  Got a needlestick a month ago, got tested for everything and popped positive for RPR (syphillis)

Got retested by the State (as it is reportable) and just got results back today of totally negative RPR and every other test.

Morale of story, get re-tested there are false positives (I am just hoping not many false negatives).

Still have to tell wife why I was depressed for the last few weeks.

It means you have an active syphilis infection. As with all tests, there's a small chance of a false positive, and if you feel like that, you should retest. But please retest ASAP so you can start your treatment.
