Red meatus & urgent urination

Hi,
I am a 31 year old white male.  On January the 27th I had protected (used a condom at all times) sex with a white girl in a massage parlour in the southwest of the UK.  She was menstruating at the time.  Some of her fluids were in my pubic hair but not on my penis and the condom was taken off carefully.  I have since had unprotected sex with my wife a number of times and to date she has no symptoms of anything wrong.

It is worth mentioning I have been very stressed at work since the beginning of January (and still am).  A month later (27th of Feb) I noticed that the tip of my penis (meatus) was slightly red.  I read countless articles on the net and scarred myself senseless convinced I had an STD.  On Monday the 1st of March I started having urgency of urination.  The urgency got worse and I was in pain because of being desperate to pee all the time.  I did not have burning sensation when peeing but starting flow was painful / difficult.  I did not have tender glands or swollen or painful testicles.  I also had no discharge from my penis.  So on March the 3rd I had a urine test done at my doctors for chlamydia and that was negative (was sent off for culture).  I had my urine tested for white blood cells in a medical centre on the 3rd and that showed no white blood cells / no cystitis.

Then on the 4th I went to the sexual health dept at the local hospital.  They took two urine samples (start & mid flow) after not urinating for 3 hours and also a swab from my urethra. They did a microscope examination of urine & swab and that showed no white blood cells or anything else abnormal.  They also did cultures on the swab and urine and they phoned me up and said I did not have chlamydia, gonorrhea or NGU.  They said they did not test for Trichomoniasis as they couldn't do this on a man.  They did do a visual exam at the time and said they saw no signs of any warts, lesions or anything else abnormal (except the red meatus) and said they thought there was no point in doing a blood test for Herpes, Syphilis, HIV etc due to me wearing a condom.  They said they thought I was just very anxious (worried I would give my wife something & lose my family) and suggested I see my doctor for some medication to calm me down.

I saw the doctor who prescribed me diazepam.  After getting the negative results and taking the diazepam I did start to feel better I also took a 2 x 500mg Azithromycin as a precaution.  I also took fluconazol and cream for thrush for a week which made no difference at all.

It's now almost 11 weeks since my sexual encounter with the massage parlour girl and I still have frequent urination although not as bad and the tip of my penis is still red.  It is still difficult to start peeing but there is no burning or itching when I pee.  I went to see my doctor on Friday and he tested me for diabetes and that was negative he also checked my prostate and said it was not enlarged.  He did however prescribe me dicflofenac and said I might have prostatitis or it could just be because I am still very anxious.

I'm worried I could have trichomoniasis and constantly worrying that my wife will develop some symptoms.  I did read that trich can give you prostatitis?  If it is just my mental state that is the problem then can anyone explain why the tip of my penis is still red after so long?  Is a red meatus a symptom of prostatis?  If so how long will it take for the redness to go once the prostatitis is under control?  I was very calm for 3 days last week but the redness was still there.  If the urethra is inflamed for any reason is this something which can take weeks not days to go away?

Any help / advice / info would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

I see no reason to think this is a STD or Trich. You used a condom which really means no risk for a STD. Not sure what is going on, maybe try posting in uriology but this is not going to be STD related.

I have the exact same thing.  Sometimes completely ok to void, other times difficult getting started.  Not sure if stricture, sometimes certainly feels like urethra is narrowed, other times ok.  May be a nerve/relaxation thing on my part.  i believe I had a lymphocele on underside center of meatus as well (dismissed by 4 uro's as literally "nothing").

Would really like if anyone has had something similar and could share.

For the benefit of anyone who is searching the forums I have an update which may help.  I had another full PCR Urine STD screen test at the end of June which included mycoplasma genitalium and trichomonas which were the two items which the hospital did not do.  The results: NEGATIVE.  My meatus is still red though.  If I get to the bottom of the problem I will update again.

No, STD's are not passed indirectly like that.

Hi Vance,
Many thanks for your reply, it's what I wanted to hear.  She did touch my genitals before I put the condom on with her hands. Could that transmit anything if she has touched her genitals before (not that I noticed she did) or is that just too paranoid!
Thanks

Forgot to mention I have no pain on ejaculation, no erectile dysfunction and no blood in my semen or urine.
