Hello and thank you for taking a look at my question.
I am a male and have had multiple encounters with an escort. During each encounter a condom was used for both receiving oral sex and having vaginal sex. During each encounter the condom was used 100% correct without any issues. I have also had two STD tests (both with negative results) and a Urinalysis that showed no bacteria in my urine. The dates of my encounters and tests are as followings:
Jan- Received oral sex and used a condom
- JanReceived oral and performed vaginal sex both with a condom
FEB early- Received oral sex and used a condom
FEB- Took a chlamydia and gonorrhea test and both came back negative
March early- received prostate massage and hand job
March - hand job with saliva spit on my penis one time
March- Received oral and performed vaginal sex both with a condom
March- Urinalysis- Leukocyte Esterase was negative
March- Performed vaginal sex with condom and used sex toy on escort
April -received oral and performed vaginal sex both with a condom
April- Full STD panel performed all test came back negative.
April- Took the following course of antibiotics
Azithromycin 500 mg tablet- Take 2 tablet by mouth daily for 2 days
Metronidazole 500 mg tablet- Take 4 tablet by mouth daily taken together
Cefpodoxime 200 mg tablet- Take 1 tablet po bid for 3 days
My question and concern is that I have had unprotected vaginal sex (only) with my girlfriend multiple times since these encounters stated. The last time we had sex was on april She has since had a urinalysis (april) and had bacteria in her urine. Doctor diagnosed as a UTI and she has take the prescribed antibiotics. She now feels like the UTI has turned into PID.
My questions are:
What are the possibilities I passed an STD to my girlfriend with the protection and negative tests?
How long can and STD survive on a sex toy?
Should I get retested since I took the above course of antibiotics starting on April?
Thank you for taking a look at my concerns and I look forward to your response.
You don't need to retest. Your tests are negative. I don't have any idea why you took antibiotics when you tested negative, and we always recommend against doing so because that causes resistance.
Bacteria doesn't live long on sex toys - if it was exposed to air and was dry, nothing would be able to transmit.
We judge no one here, and you are free to do what you want, but I will say from a disease perspective that you are putting yourself at risk with going outside your relationship so often. You are great at using protection for everything, but what happens if a condom breaks or comes off?
Your girlfriend should see her doctor. UTIs can become very serious if not resolved.
Since you took those antibiotics, you need to wait at least 3 weeks before testing again or you could get a false negative. This needs to happen even if you have another exposure. This is another drawback to taking antibiotics you don't need.
Where did you get the Cefpodoxime? That doesn't treat any STD. Were you trying to treat gonorrhea?
