Hi. I am male and recently had a very rare sexual encounter with another man.

We had mutual penile oral sex with condoms.  The only other act was my licking his perineal area very briefly.  Did I put myself at risk for oral gonorrhea or syphilis?  It's been 5 days and no symptoms.  Thank you.

Nope, you have no risk at all. You used a condom when you gave and received, which protects you from gonorrhea orally and genitally.

Syphilis is only infectious when sores are present. Since you didn't see any (you'd have mentioned it of you had), and since you used a condom, I wouldn't worry about this at all. Syphilis is fairly uncommon, too, so odds are that your partner doesn't have it.

Thanks so much. I did briefly lick the area between his anus and testicles (perineal?).  Not the anus itself. Is that of any concern?  I did rinse with Listerine right afterward.
No, not unless there were sores there. Licking very briefly isn't likely to transmit anything.  The perineum isn't a common place for syphilis sores, and it's not how to transmit gonorrhea (that's from the urethra).

Rinsing with Listerine will give you fresh breath, but won't prevent STD infection.

Really, you can relax. You have nothing to worry about here.
Thank you very much. A.J.  Very helpful. Have a nice weekend.
Thanks :) You, too!
