Someone I was with, tested positive for Oral Gonorrhea...

A FWB, I have none for a few years, went away for the holidays. They were tested  last Saturday, rapid hiv test, neg, but the std test takes a week to receive. So this past Wed, we hooked up. There was oral sex, receiving on my end, and briefly giving, passionate kissing, and I was the insertive partner, non receptive, with a condom. Basically the top.  So just today, literally, he told me that he was sorry and that he just got the results and he tested positive for oral gonorrhea and that I should be tested etc. The last I was tested was Dec 8 2016 all neg... I went tonight, explained my story and was tested for gonorrhea, throat swab and urine. Of course it takes a week to receive, and my mind is racing thinking about it. I had the option of taking treatment before finding out the results, and some places treat anyway just from hearing your partner tested pos. The counselor also told me that just because one person has it, doesn't always mean the other will get it as well, and she explained why. So I await for my results, wondering if I caught something, as I have had no symptoms, but neither did my fwb. But like I said they tested positive for oral gonorrhea. He believes he got it from oral sex while away. He mentioned kissing lots of people as well, but I find mixed theories on kissing passing it on. So I sit and wait, hoping for the best, but thinking over and over of the worst.  So if a one time sex contact with a positive oral gonorrhea infected person , that did involve oral sex, kissing, rimming him, but safe anal penetration, does that mean I will automatically get it no questions?

Hi, when we speak of contracting gono its almost always contracted from unprotected vaginal sex but can be with anal also. The reason being that these areas are not exposed to the air and are confined areas where the germs can multiply. So if he gave you unprotected oral sex the odds are much less than anal. Also he would need to give you "deep throat" oral as the germs are in the back of his throat not in the oral mouth area.

Thank you for the response. So much! Yes he did give unprotected oral, but it was very brief, and not very deep at all. But the anal sex was completely safe. But because he was only positive for oral gon, and I was in contact unprotected with his mouth, I thought okay that means I have it, no questions asked. But your reply calms me down. I hate waiting for results. :) Hopefully it all works out.
