Std risk?

Hi,
I had protected sex with a woman  I got to know recently. There was a moment that our genitals touched only without condom, but no rubbing or intercourse. I got after 13 days pain in the left testicle and also feeling of uncomfort in the genital area. I tested after 17 days for Chalmydia, gonorrhea, trich and mycolpasma. All came negative. The pain in the testicle i have for more than a year but it was eased last period before this encounter.
Do i need to worry about stds considering all this. I have a pregnant partner and i am very worried. Your advice is appreciated

So first, I need to say that we are a safe and supportive site, and we welcome posts from everyone. I know this has been addressed, but julybaby was correct in her assessment, and the beauty of the internet is that you can take what you want and leave the rest. GuitarRox isn't any more of an expert than julybaby is.

In any case, your chances of getting anything from a one-time protected encounter are very slim, and the things you can get from that wouldn't give you the symptoms you are experiencing. A brief touch of genitals isn't going to transmit an STD, either. They either require penetration - which offers enough time for things to enter your urethra - or significant grinding and rubbing, which allows enough friction for things to enter the skin. Neither of those happened.

You can get herpes without symptoms, but you have symptoms of something, and herpes doesn't cause testicular pain. Neither would syphilis.

Herpes sores typically appear within 2-12 days. Syphilis sores show up, on average, at 3 weeks.

You can test for syphilis now, and it would be conclusive. I would strongly urge you NOT to test for herpes. There are false positives for that, and I don't think your anxiety could handle that right now. It takes weeks, expensive testing and a lot of stress to unravel that. If you had symptoms of it, my answer would be different.

I haven't reviewed your other posts, but if you haven't seen a urologist for your testicular pain, you absolutely should.

Hi auntiejessi, thanks for your detailed answer
No symptoms for both syphilis and herpes. I called with a test center today and they advised not to taste for syphilis as it is very uncommon and highest probability to find is in men who have sex with men.
I was busy with urologist regarding the pain but they could not figure out the reason. But the pain just came back after this encounter.
I am not testing for herpes as I have hsv1 and here the blood test do not differentiate between the two types. It is only the idea now in my head that maybe I have herpes long time ago without knowing. Luckely is not to be transmitted unless there is a rub that allows the virus to go in skin.
The risk was not only one time encouter but two times in the same day that we had sex but the skin touch was only one time without condom. The rest of time i wore the condom
I assume this would not change the odds but I am just mentioning it.
I agree that it's uncommon in most places, and without symptoms, there's no need to test for syphilis.

No, the additional time doesn't change anything. Same person, condom use both times, no additional unprotected contact.

For the pain, make sure you are hydrated - drink water, not caffeinated, carbonated drinks, lay off alcohol, juices, etc. It may not help, but it's a place to start. Dehydration and irritation is a big cause of pain in the area. If the pain lingers, continue to work with your urologist.

Thanks for the advise auntiejessi!
My anxiety for stds increased once i had the testicle pain as i was diagnosed with epididymitis and that happened two weeks after having protected sex but once you read about epididymitis cause, first things appear stds. Although urine test were all negative the pain remained and it eased with time but still available. No clue what it is. All echo images show no up normalities. I am just sharing my experience here for the other. Maybe it helps some one with same status
There are a lot of men who talk about epididymitis after sex, but test negative for everything. I don't know if there is a correlation we are missing, something "mechanical" that goes wrong in the process of ejaculation or during sex - we don't hear about it with masturbation nearly as often as sex with another person, and we hear about it a lot more from men who have sex with women than we do men who have sex with men. (This is all anecdotal, not scientific by any stretch.)

I hope the pain lessons quickly this time.

Condom sex is generally safe sex.  Incidence of other skin to skin std's such as what you mention are a low possibility.  Here's a health page on the subject: https://www.cdc.gov/condomeffectiveness/docs/Condoms_and_STDS.pdf  Your using a condom drastically cut down on any risk of std's and unless you develop a symptom, I would not be the least worried.

Thanks for your answer. If I did not have the pain in the left testicle and uncomfort feeling and often urinating I would not have tested or got worried. But these are, according to the internet, could be symptoms to a std like chlamydia or gonorrhea. Can the test result considered as definitive in this case and I should go on?
I see from your other posts previously and on other forums that the testicular pain has been ongoing.  I wouldn't associate it with this episode.  And I would not worry you are going to get chlamydia or gonorrhea when wearing a condom. You may be overthinking.  You should go on.
Thats correct, i mentioned this but the pain came back after easing for many months, and the original pain was started after similar encounter. Thats why I am associating the pain with this event and prefer testing as the test result is the most guaranteed way to exclude an std
Your condom protected sex is very unlikely to cause the issue.  I would not test unless you get a sore. You asked about skin to skin contact.  herpes and syphilis are the concerns there and the chance is low.  You sound like you want me to say the pain is associated.  I don't think it is and I don't think you need to test.
The pain story is very strange that it shows after such events. Maybe my mind that keeps busy with it make it worse. There are no sores so far and the sex partner assured that she has no health complains. The skin to skin touch was very shallow and I understood, regardless to the fact that no sores available, syphilis is very uncommon in heterosexual. When would the sores of herpes or Syphilis show usually? The contact was in medio august. So 2 months ago, shouldn't have shown in 2 months? And do I need to test for syphilis and herpes for assurance? Thanks and excuse my various questions but It emerge from my worry about my pregnant partner
Let me try again, no, you do not need to test in the absence of symptoms of herpes or syphilis.  You've already tested for the other std's.  This sounds like an anxiety issue, to be honest with you.   It is no skin off our back if you just go test for herpes and syphilis without any of the typical symptoms.  It's up to you how you spend your time and money.  But something tells me that even if you get a negative, you will still question it (because of anxiety).  Have you ever spoken to anyone about anxiety?  That really may help you.
That's correct I am very anxious and after testing the anxiety disappear. I am not accepting any chance to be infected even if it is 0.00001% and reading all info gives always a feeling of there is still a chance to have a std. A professional advice I appreciate al ot and helps me as I believe in it. So thanks again for your advice
good luck.
Is it possible that herpes do not show in some cases,  any symptoms or not remarkable?

No, if you wore a condom correctly then you are fine. Condoms are extremely effective in protecting you from viral and bacterial infection. But skin to skin type of stis can still be caught.

I assume you mean with skin to skin stis herpes and syphilis. These would show other symptoms and sores on the skin if available correct? . I don't see any of these sores. The condom was wore correctly. are the 4 tests after 17 days definitive as the pain and uncomfort in testicles can be related to these stds?
