Has anyone here contracted CMV or EBV after the age of 20 and if so has it altered them physically ?
Quality of life affected?

Bodily functions affected?

IF so any treatment provided by doctor or could they not make sense of it?

I haven't personally, but know people who have.

Why are you asking?

Both can be transmitted in non-sexual ways.

I am asking as no doctors seem to think that the body can be affected with the contraction of one of these viruses . Yet it has severely impacted the life and quality of life of a friend of mine and me

They seem to think that millions of people are born with it . Whereas I believe there is a difference between being born with it and having a sexual incident with someone from whom you contracted it from.
Hence my question if anyone had a similar experience and knows of any treatment for it .
You can be born with them, but most are infected as children and never have any symptoms.

However, lots of people get infected and do become sick. EBV is what causes mono/glandular fever, which can definitely impact the body, though the impact varies from person to person. I had it in high school, and was sick for about a month, though not horribly.

For CMV, if you are otherwise healthy, you probably shouldn't have any real impact from it.

Have you and your friend looked into other causes? If you live together, do you have mold in your house? There could be lots of other reasons for your symptoms, whatever they are. Something I say a lot is not to limit yourself when trying to figure out what is wrong - you do yourself a disservice when you do that, and may prolong your suffering.
