Im  living in Thailand. I developed urethral itch,  Pain & irritation  burning no real discharge. I went to see a doctor for a gramstain test and a urinalysis. The Urinalysis was normal...no elevated wbc in urine. But the Urethral swab test came back with gram positive cocci  in pairs  I was treated with intermuscular  of Ceftriaxone  one week of Cravit 500mg once a day. I also took a single dose of Zithro 1 gram and a single dose of Ceftixime. After a couple days off the antibiotics, I still felt irritation and discomfort, but not as severe and no dischargeI took a single dose of anti fungal gram stain test  I waited 2 days  to be off the antibiotics to go back for a follow up exam. The results were positive for gram positive cocci moderate and a few PMNs. The urologist issued me  a script for amoxicillion 2 tablets a day for a week. He also had a urinalysis done which was clear, a. What is the proper treatment for gram positive cocci could he do a more detailed test to be able to finally put bug  away  I also took a further single dose of Zithro
I had a hsv test came back  IGG positive  IGM negative in the first fews days 6 days later had cold sore on lip first ever .hsvtest was 4 weeks ago
Still have irritation at tip of penis has me worried!!!
Had a PSA test it came up 0.56 Doctor did glove test for enlarged prostate.Its been six weeks no genital blisters or sores only tip is red
What should be my next approach for treatment?

the herpes testing you had done doesn't sound like it was type specific? If so, total waste of your time and money. also herpes igm testing is very flawed and should've never been drawn on you either.  at this point you honestly know nothing about your herpes status :(


I agree, they've thrown a heck of a lot at you at this point and probably needlessly. Wait a few more weeks at this point and if symptoms continue, follow up with an urologist for better answers. You've covered your std bases with all these medications so odds are any further symptoms are not std related.

They are giving you a lot of antibiotics. Any of these could be used as treatment for the possible streptococci. Many bacteria are becoming very resistant to antibiotics so they may have changed them if they were not working. Also, if you have a fulminant infection you usually have more PMN's. They should do a follow up urine culture if you are still having problems. The HSV test shows you don't have a current infection (IgM is negative and is the first antibody to show up) but you have HSV and will always have it. The HSV virus lives in the nerve cells and comes out during stress.  If the HSV is on the lip it is usually type 1. Since you have no symptoms yet on the penis then you can't really check that area.Could it be possible you got an STD? Men don't always show all of the symptoms women show. Do you still have symptoms now or just the redness? It could just be left over from the urinary tract infection.
