STD or not STD

Hi - I rather stupidly had unprotected oral sex with a woman, and now 5 days later i have what appears to be tonsillitis - white lumps on my tonsils, really swollen throat, temperature, aches and pains.  Am i  being paranoid that i have an std or shall i put it down to a coincidence that i have just caught tonsillitis!?

Cheers.

If your throat is that swollen, and you have a fever, you need to see a doctor.

Thank you - this is so much more than a sore throat (almost swollen to closing - hard to swallow) with a temperature.  I did think it bizarre that it came on so quickly too - as the sore throat started the day after, developing to the symptoms i have today.  I hope its just a coincidence then - either that or my concience manifesting itself.

So you gave her oral sex...well you could get gonorrhea-but getting it from a woman is very difficult and your symptoms do not match anything other then a cold/flu. Gonorrhea orally doesn't show symptoms most of the time, if it does then it is just a sore throat.

You could also get herpes or syphils. Without an outbreak probably not herpes and syphilis is rare.

No, only if you gave her oral sex would your throat be affected. If you just received then it would be your penis.

Oh - I read somewhere that an std could affect the throat from oral sex (given and received).

Well if you did get an STD it would not affect your throat. STD's affect the area where you were infected. So if you did get anything you would notice it on/in your penis.
