What's wrong?

Hello everyone,

I recently recieved Oral sex (unprotected) for about 2 minutes and I had regular sex (protected) for about 5 minutes.  After doing so I washed my penis off and made the mistake of putting Hand Sanitizer all over my penis and urethra.  It burned like hell for a minute than the past 2 days I have been experiencing a mild irritation on my penis head and my testicles seem to have a mild throbbing pain as well.  I have no weird discharge or anything, can anyone tell me what's wrong with me? Thank you!

NEVER put hand sanitizer on your genital area! the skin in the genital area is too delicate for it to be put down there.

you most likely gave yourself a chemical urethritis if this lasts more than a few days. first try drinking plenty of water to flush out your urinary tract but if it lingers, be seen.

fyi - std's are transmitted during the sex act itself. they don't lay around on the skin to be washed off afterwards.

always have protected oral sex - even though it's low risk - it's not no risk.  we don't recommend testing unless you have symptoms. since it's hard to tell what is causing your current symptoms for sure right now, if they linger, make sure you get tested for ngu, chlamydia and gonorrhea. you also can contract hpv from oral sex but we don't have commercially available tests for that. You also can contract syphilis from oral sex but unless you have high rates of syphilis in your area, no reason for routine testing for that either. hsv1 can also be transmitted from receiving oral too.

protected sex is a risk for hpv, syphilis and herpes. We don't recommend routine testing from protected sex unless you have a regular partner to protect.

Probably the hand sanitizer causing irritation. Oral sex is low risk and without discharge would not be concerned about a STD
