STD risks cunnilingus

Hi, I am very worried because I made some bad mistake. I performed cunnilingus on a sex worker on 2 different occasions (same worker). each time took about 5 minutes.

Now I understand that I could have potentially been infected by STDs like HPV(which can cause throat cancer) and herpes.
I also know there are know tests for male HPV, and for herpes. So I am worried.

What are the chances I got infected? Is there anything I can do to be sure? Am I only infected if I get symptoms?

Performing cunnilingus does have some risks, but it's much lower than most other things. There is a slight chance you could get oral HPV, an even slighter chance you could get oral herpes, and if she had no sores visible, you won't get syphilis.

I wouldn't worry about this at all.

I should add that you could get oral gonorrhea, but the chances of that are also very low.
Thanks for the quick reply.
What factors can increase the chance of me getting HPV by this type of action? (assuming she does have HPV, although it may be false)
Nothing would increase it. If you mean bleeding gums or something, no, that doesn't increase anything. That's an old myth about HIV that for some reason still lingers.

No one wants HPV, of course, but about 90% of us will get it at least once in our lifetimes. Many doctors consider it an inevitability. Most people never get symptoms, and you'll never know you have it, it clears your body within 2 years and never causes problems 90% of the time.

Don't spend your time needlessly worrying about this. If you have the HPV vaccine available where you live and your a candidate for it (usually under age 26), get it. Use condoms. Those are the best things you can do to prevent HPV infection. Otherwise, don't worry so much about it.

If you are concerned about infecting a regular partner, there isn't much you can do about that now. Chances are really low that you were infected with anything.
Thank you so much for your informative reply. You are doing a very important work here, and your answer has really put me at ease.
