Can genital rubbing transfer infections?

During my last menstral cycle I had an external vaginal itch, but after my cycle was finished, the itch went away.   My boyfriend and I had a night of foreplay; where he was rubbing his penis onto my vagina and slightly placed the head of his penis in the entrance of my vagina, and took it out.  That's the bulk of it.  This is the first time I'm experiencing sexual intimacy in two years. I had a gyn appt. the next day, and was told I had a vaginal infection,  I personally didn't notice any discharge out of the ordinary. no discoloration, nor an order, just a itch that went away. Yet, I was told I had an infection and was given flagyl. The doctor told me that my partner did not need medication, I am questioning whether or not my partner should take the medication.  Is it possible that my partner contracted the infection?

You didnt describe what infection you had.If your doctor said your partner didnt need meds I would trust him/her.  The doctors always know best and you should trust their diagnosis.  Thats why they get paid the big bucks, lol.  If you and/or your partner are still worried there would be nothing wrong with him going to the doctor and getting checked out himself, it surely couldnt hurt.
