Am I pregnant?

A few nights ago, I gave my boyfriend a handj**. He came into a tissue, but some of it got onto my hands, which I wiped off with a tissue. Ten minutes later, I took a shower, I made sure the water was as hot as I could stand it and held my hands under the running water to make sure I could get as much semen off my hands before I cleaned myself. I then took the shower (including cleaning with soap "down there"). Is it possible I could get pregnant from that? I know it seems stupid, but I just want some assurance.

I have had plenty sex ed. I just need to have some assurance because if I'm going to wonder about it anyway, I should just ask. It's just one of those things where I overthink it. No need to draw conclusions that I'm ignorant in this area. Thank you for your help.

I'd always clean my hands first. I make sure that I don't touch down there. So do sperm die when they are exposed to air? Like in a snap? I thought they could survive in a couple of minutes?

You don't need to worry this time.  You can always put a condom on him and let him ejaculate into the condom, which you can then tie up, and he can go wash his penis off.  Just make sure to use some lube.  You could also go on the pill, which is very effective against pregnancy when used properly.  Condoms are still a good idea, though, since the pill will not protect from stds, and having two methods of contraception is better than having one.

You sound like you could use a little more practical sex ed, though.  Scarleteen has a lot of good info, as well as sexual health Q and A answered by trained volunteers.  I'd be happy to talk to you more if you have any questions about sex ed/sexual health.
