Foreign object stuck in rectum and cant get it out?

I tried to get this object out and couldn't so I went to the ER and the took me in for a cat scan and I let the lady know what it was and how it happened and she was very receptive and assured me it wasn't as uncommon as I thought. Afterwards in the waiting room the Dr. Came up and told me he looked at my catscan and saw my colon swollen and that I had nothing to worry about as he diagnosed me with Colitis and sent me home with anti biotics, something for nausea, and something for abdominal pain. Why not take it out or give me something to help get it out myself???

I would say from the doctor's response, you may not really have anything in your anus?

Well, either that or it is unlikely to stay stuck. People get a pretty wide variety of things up their behinds, my sister was an EMT and was once called to help a guy who had a carrot up his rear and it wouldn't come out. But sometimes if it's smallish, the doc might assume it would come out in the next couple of bowel movements and that the person is just dealing with swelling from attempts to get it out. I could see the doctor prescribing an anti-inflammatory and some fiber, in such a case.

If you are certain it is still there, and have said so to the doctor, it's surprising that he didn't take more action to remove it unless it's something that will naturally pass on its own (like, something small and rounded). If you have the doctor's name, call in and ask for him to call you back, and if he does, ask why he just sent you home.
