Maybe someone can shed light because the pediatrician won't listen! Semi-long explanation but I need answers!
We bought a baby monitor that detects baby's breathing; if they stop breathing for 20+ seconds an alarm sounds. All was well until our son turned 11 weeks old. He eats @8am & put back to bed after about an hour & sleeps until his next feeding @11am or so. One morning after putting him down I heard the monitor click on, waited to hear crying or something & heard nothing. We have it set so it's not constant white noise from being on but "clicks on" when sound is made. Minutes later it happened again. I started watching the monitor & noticed the pendulum that swings back & forth indicating movement/breathing was not moving. A few seconds later it began to move again. It happened several more times & finally the beep. Our monitor beeps once when the breathing/movement ceases followed by a 10 second delay before an alarm sounds in case the breathing picks up again on its own. I checked him & he was sleeping & breathing. The next day the same thing happened, although this time the alarm went off after several occurences of it just beeping the once. When I got to his room he was fine & breathing. We decided to see if it happened again & it didn't, until the next week. The same thing happened, several occurences of the one beep, followed by an episode of the alarm sounding. This time I went in to find him wide eyed & looking scared, when he saw me he begun to cry. I immediately called the pediatrician and they wanted to see him. However when I met w/ the doctor, he told me to get rid of the monitor! I'm sorry but SOMETHING is wrong w/ my child & I'd much rather be safe than sorry when it comes to his life. He didn't take me seriously & made me feel crazy for having the monitor. The one beep scenario just happened again & it's never just once :( I won't bother calling doc but don't know what to do. It's always around 10-11am, just coincidence? Help!
