Well you're right those are a lot of signs of depression. Parents don't normally take these things seriously because they were once teens and think it's the whole 'hormones' thing and reaching adulthood, which is true to an extent, our teenage years can be the hardest years of our life.
I think you should tell your mum exactly what it is you're feeling and if not her, a close friend or family member. I know it can be very hard to work up the courage to tell people you're suffering, but you've made the first step by telling us all on here, which is great! You'll get a lot of support on here I'm sure of it.
No one's rushing you to get better overnight, these take time. Our teenage years can be really horrible, and at 18, I can say it doesn't really get better. But you don't have to continue feeling this low if you dont want to. Find someone you trust, even a school teacher, and arrange to see your doctor who I'm sure will be very helpful and understanding if you tell them exactly how you're feeling!
I hope everything goes well for you, if you ever need to chat just add me! That's what this place is for after all!
hi
i feel very miserable, i researched depression and most of the symptoms i feel i have. i have not been getting much sleep but i am always tired and i dont always eat very much. i am sometimes forgetful and i am slow at doing things.
i dont interact with my friends as often, as i usually get alot of negative thoughts. some times i cry for no reason, and i am moody very often.
i get frequent headaches and i have trouble concentrating.
i told my mum that i think i am depressed but she just thinks that i am over reacting.
i feel helpless and empty and dont see much hope for my future.
Hi pheoby.
Just out of curiosity, what exactly is it you're feeling or experiencing that makes you think you're depressed?
Then maybe we can get down to why your mum is so reluctant to believe you and how we can help you out!
