if you're feeling depressed, lonely, etc, what do you wish your parents would do to help you? i had a mental illness (anorexia) when i was in high school and i wish my parents were more aware in helping me diagnose it
Parents do need to remain open to what their kids are telling them. Sometimes kids don't fully share though. I think when parents 'know' and choose to ignore it often has to do with fear . . . 'not MY child' kind of thing or fear for their child's future. But expressing what is going on is a first start and most parents want/need to know.
