throbbing is usually a sign of an infection, or abscess. check your temp, if you are running alow grade temp. I would say you have an abscess, it could be soft tissue(only gums) or hard tissue ( inside the bone, or tooth) ,
closer examination is advised. x-rays of the upper and lowers on the same side is advised. It is possible to have referred pain from top to bottom or vice versa..
