I'm in northern NJ.
The partial was for FNA report of 'microfollicular neoplasm' in two 1.7cm nodules.  The only way to rule out cancer was to remove the right lobe. Turned out papillary carcinoma 6mm was found. Lab report says 'completely excised'.  The pathology report came back 10 days after the surgery.  I don't think any lymph nodes were checked last surgery.  I have an appointment with the surgeon in the morning and have a few questions about such things.
I'm feeling pretty hypo and ready to get this over with!

Was your 6mm encapsulated or lymph node involvement?  Was it why you had surgery or an incidental finding?  Mine are 4mm and 0.5mm  incidental findings w/no lymph lobe involvement.  I originally had 2 nodules that were bening.  I've opted to watch and wait aftter 4 opinions and am on Synthroid for supression.

R U from Jersey?  I am.

May 10th is my surgery date for removal of the rest of my thyroid.  Had a PT on Feb 12 and 10 days post op was told a 6mm papillary carcinoma was found.  My endo, surgeon , and I it was necessary to get the rest out.  I waited 3 months because of commitments at work. (I'm the business administrator at a small private school and wear many hats, too many!)  By Thursday, surgery day, I'll be able to fully concentrate on healing myself.
My doc said she's not sure if I'll get RAI....depends on what comes out this time.  Isn't RAI the usual course of treatment for papillary carcinoma?
Also, I need to be concerned about calcium levels?  I know one of my parathyroid glands was removed during the PT, but the other right gland was left in good shape.
The incision from the first surgery looks sooooooooo good.  It's too bad I have to do it all over again!  I'm getting a little nervous about the surgery.  It's worse knowing what's coming......though it's not so awfully bad.  I'll just take the pain meds for the first few days and let my family wait on me!
I'll let you all know how it goes.
My best to the rest of you facing surgery this week.
