I have just received a note from my doctor saying that the results all look normal. I will contact her requesting a T3 and T4 test.

Doctor never even mentioned testosterone check, thank you for the info.
I have been reading alot of the information here but most goes over my head!
Thank you again
Hi tmorr, did you have your testosterone levels checked, testosterone primarily controls the hair growth on the legs/underarms, etc. The eyebrows and moustache thyroid hormones. When things were bad for me nothing would grow, used to be a hairy monkey, :) so I knew something wasn't right, but didn't know what was the problem. Since doing the thyroid meds, the eyebrows and moustache (I would have never believed I would miss that) have not returned to growing as of yet.... I'm on quite a high dose of testosterone since was almost none exsistent, my legs, arms, etc. and facial hair(not moustache hair) have returned to almost my usual growth. I'm working on lowering my SBHG. A lot of times the doctors don't bother with all the sex hormones, and is crucial because if the thyroid is not working properly it puts the brake on all the sex hormones as well. Good luck to you!
In 2012, your TSH of 5.71 is high of most of the ranges used by labs, which usually top out at 4.5 or 5.0. However, AACE recommended many years ago that TSH range be changed to 0.3-3.0. If you use AACE's range, your TSH has been high every year (2012, 2013, 2014). As I said, 2013 is the last time FT4 was run, and it was very much on the low side.
TSH is really a fairly useless test. If you want to know for sure what's going on, ask your doctor to test FT3 and FT4. High cholesterol and decreased body hair are both hypo symptoms.
No other symptoms. My doctor said everything was normal in 2012, 2013 and 2014. I'm wasn't so sure and it was at my suggestion, having read info on this site, that I wanted the T3 and T4 test. The 2015 test was only just done last week so not sure, given the result, that the doctor may suggest doing the T3 and T4 test again. I feel ok but I am worried about the cholesterol levels and the fact that my hair on my legs and underarms have now stoped growing all together.
Do you have any other hypo symptoms besides high cholesterol?
There's not much to go on. TSH is the only thyroid test since 2013. At that time your FT4 was considerably low of the midrange rule of thumb. However, that's ancient history at this point. TSH has been lowering since 2012.
Free T5 should read Free T4 sorry
