Possible thyroid problem?

For the past 3 years I have been steadily gaining weight, I have always been thin..   I had had my thyroif checked many times and they found nothing wrong.   I have episodes of rapid pulse and feeling breathless.  When I get too hogh my pulse jumps over 100.  I am so frustrated, I am getting pretty big and my BP and pulse are erratic.  My quality of life is suffering.  Could it be a thyrpid issue they are missing?

ok, well this is all my doctors test.  If it's not considered enough why don't they run the other tests?   I see my doc on wed and ask him to run free T3 and free T4

Was that a test for TSH?

As a start I think you need to be tested for the biologically active thyroid hormones, which are Free T3 and Free T4 (not the same as Total T3 and Total T4), along with TSH.  This can be done by your regular doctor.  If the doctor resists testing for Free T3 and Free T4, then you should insist on it and don't take no for an answer.

When results are available, then get a copy and post results and reference ranges shown on the lab report and members will be glad to help interpret and advise further.

I don't think I know where any of them are.  Mostly just a basic thyroid test is run on me at my regular doc's ofifice,  I only had one run by an endo and that was 2 years ago.

Please post whatever thyroid test results you have along with reference ranges shown on the lab report so that members can assess the adequacy of testing and test results.
