TT in 2 days and getting nervous

I have been on Synthroid for 11 years for hypo. My current dose is .125mcg. I have a nodule that is growing so I was sent for a FNA biopsy 3 weeks ago. The FNA came back suspicious for follicular neoplasm?!?! I am having a TT Thursday 5/10/12. I was told the chances are 80-90% cancer. If there are obvious cancer lesions they will remove some lymph nodes as well. If it is cancer the dr said I can wait until school is out which is 5/22/12.

My main question is will the dr raise my dosage right away?

I was also told I would be very tired after surgery. I have an 11 yr old daughter and 7 year old twins. One of the twins has Type 1 diabetes so there is BIG demand for this mommy..LOL How long does the tiredness last?
I mean I already feel VERY sluggish and tired but I was told it would be worse.

Any advice? Suggestions?

I don't understand -- you're have the TT on Thurs; what will you wait until school is out, for?  I would think they'd take out the lymph nodes while they are in there.

You dosage will depend on your actual test results.  It sounds like you might already be needing an increase in med.  You should ask to get your levels tested (TSH, Free T3 and Free T4), right away, in hopes that you can ward off some the fatigue and other symptoms of hypo.

I hate to tell you this, but the tiredness will last until your levels are adequate for you, so the sooner you press for testing and med adjustment, hopefully, the sooner you will feel better.  It does sound like you're a pretty busy mom.

Best of luck with your surgery and when you get new test results, please come back and post them, so members can make suggestions that might help you feel better.

Sorry Barb and thanks for commenting. If its cancer the nodes will be taken out during surgery. If its cancer I will have to do RAI treatment when school is out.
My Endo retired so my PCP did my bloodwork while waiting to get in with new Endo and all he gave was my TSH which I think was 1.86 if I remember correctly. The new Endo said he was going to wait until after surgery to do bloodwork to get everything (T3, T4 etc) since everything is happening so quickly. The nodule or goiter or whatever this thing is called is growing and pushing on my vocal chords so that was the main reason for the rush of surgery. Then the biopsy results just pushed it along even faster.

Make absolute sure you get FREE T4 and FREE T3.  if not specicically asked for most likely you'll be tested for total T3 and total T4 which are outdated and not of much value.

Do not assume that the endo or Dr will know to do the FREE hormone tests.  Most do not.
