Asthma???

Is there a connection between thyroid and Asthma???

I have never officially been diagnosed with asthma...
But I've had all that chest tightness and pain the last couple weeks that I mentioned in another post.
Then the last couple of night its been humid where I live and I noticed when I got outside I feel more chest pressure than usual....and I'm wondering with my TSH being a little higher (still no aware of the Free t3 and t4 yet..doc said no again) if it could be inducing some asthma like symptoms because I do have some weird allergies.....

Any thoughts?

This article below states there is an iodine connection although my first guess was b6 deficiency....and iodine can not be metabolized properly without b6 http://thyroid.about.com/library/derry/bl10.htm

My wife has asthma.  And she recently had in the last year had her Thyroid meds upped in dosage three times. When she went back to the alergist/asthma Dr.  He was able to reduce her asthma medicine in HALF.

I also asked if there was a connection as that is the only thing that changed and no one responded to whether there was some connection.

My wife got more meds and felt better and after years of the same lung performance the asthma Dr was able to cut her med dosage in half because she tested better than she has ever tested.  Like I said the ONLY thing that changed was the upping of Thyroid.

So to me there seems to be a connection.  Or it is one weird coincidence at the very least.  Your testimony gives further evidence that there MAY be some sort of connection.  it there is I'd say it is fairly week and maybe fairly rare.   But it is hard to explain any other way.

LOL...well, I AGREE. EXCEPT...even with gimel help..there is no docs around here. I had to go on medicaid and nobody will accept me out of state....and there are no docs in my state. ....and I can't afford (because I had to quit my job with all of this) to see a naturopath or holistic doc....its a really sticky situation and I'm at a loss. ):

I don't think everything in the world is connected to thyroid...however, I had nothing wrong until I got thyroid...and when it effects your whole body....I see a connection.

So...thats why I'm on here...I'm not expecting everyone to know what to do without my T3 and T4 but I'm at my wits end. ):
Thanks goolarra...you've been so helpful in the past and I really do appreciate it. (:
God bless!

My "stern" lecture for the day:  Get a new doctor!  (I'm sure you've never heard me say that before!  LOL)

This is a terrible year for allergies in many parts of the country.  The weather has wrought havoc with plants causing intense pollen releases.  We recently had our first real taste of summer here, and I notice that on days when I spend time outside, I stuff up something terrible.  We're all allergic to pollen...it's just a matter of what our individual threshholds are.
