Direct mechanical impact can tear the tissue and damage blood vessels
I was in a car accident a couple years ago with whiplash and had to have half my thyroid removed. Need to know if your doctors said it was from the accident? Thanks
HI I HAVE JUST BEEN READING YOUR POST ON YOUR NECK INJURY
I HAVE HAS A LOT OF PAIN SINCE MY CAR ACCIDENT AND NOT ON DOCTOR COULD FIND OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THE PAIN , I WAS JUST FOBBED OFF, NOW IHAVE BEEN TO SEE AND ENT DOCTOR, AND HE SAYS THTATHE THYROID CARTLIDGE IS DAMAGED,DUE TO THE WHIP LASH, AND I HAVE TO HAVE A CAMARA UP MY NOSE TO SEE WHAT DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE, JUST THOUGHT I SHARE THIS WITH YOU
I had in my neck what appeared to be whiplash, as stated by a chiropractor looking at an xray of my neck. this was a few years after the whiplash occurred and i had thyroiditis.
I am interested in knowing this as well. I was in an accident 2 years ago and my neck has never been right since. I have a nodule and slightly enlarged thyroid. I didn't ask the doctor, though. Maybe I will.
Anyone else know anything about this?
Could this be part of my pain that I am experiencing? Do these nodules sometimes appear after whiplash injury? I was in a wreck over a year ago and nothing has quite settled the pain. Now I find out that I have developed nodules....so have you or anyone experience this after injury??
The similar thing happened in my back: the 'nodule' of connective tissue that formed after back injury pressed on the nerve and caused pain similar to artritic but a lot more severe

Can you explain this "nerve pinching"? Something in my throat, I think it's my thyroid (nodules), is pressing on a nerve. It radiates up under my throat and down my chest on the left side. I know the recurrent laryngeal nerve runs through the thyroid but what other, if any, nerve could be affected? The nodules appear to be within the thyroid, not on an edge, so the doctor isn't quite sure they could be causing me this pain.
Thanks
The cervical sprain or whiplash injury is what normally causes the pain after the car wreck [speaking from personal experience]
most goiters and nodules are painless unless they pressing on the nerve [pinching nerve between swelling and bone]
