I expect that your Free T3 is too low in the range, but the key question is how do you feel? If you have no hypo symptoms, then there is no problem, right? If you do have hypo symptoms, then your Free T3 is too low. Since you are taking only T4 med, and assuming that the reference ranges for the FreeT3 and Free T4 are close to those I see so often, the Free T3 being much lower in its range than Free T4, would be due to your body not adequately converting the T4 to T3. If you will please confirm this by posting the reference ranges for the Free T3 and T4 tests, as shown on the lab report, then I can comment further.
I was not given any ranges just the the T3 was 2.5 and I believe the range should be 3.5 to 4.2. Which means that I am low, but does that mean I should be at a different level for the meds.?? The TSH was 2.44 do not have the levels for that nor for the T4 which was 1.4.
Thanks
Trish
Are you having hypo symptoms?
There are lots of labs that have a range for Free T3 that is 2.3 - 4.2. So your Free T3 would be too low in the range, if you are having hypo symptoms.
For Free T4 I see ranges that are typically .60 - 1.50. For that range your Free T4 is high in the range. Since your Free T4 is high in that range and your Free T3 would be low in that range, that would be indicative of inadequate conversion of the T4 med to T3, and a need to revise your meds to include a source for T3.
All this is supposition, based on you having symptoms and that the ranges I used are similar to those from your lab. So we really need to know about your symptoms, and also for you to please get the Free T3 and Free T4 range info from your lab report.
