Depression with Hashimoto's

I wanted to find out if other people are experiencing depression with Hashimoto's. I have been very emotional and can cry at the drop of a hat.  I have been a wreck at work and also at home around my kids. I get sad when I see the kids are growing up and not dependent on me anymore. I miss spending that time with them now they are teenagers and as you know are wanting to hang with there friends all the time which is understandable I did the same thing at that age also. I just wanted to find out if this depression is going to pass once I have been on the medication for a while. I am no natur-throid and have been for almost two weeks but I was on Armour for 9 months before swtiching to the natur-throid. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes your doctor ran the incorrect tests. You need to have a TSH, Free T4 and Free T3 done. The others are obsolete and not used any longer.
Even for being on Naturethroid, I think you may be too supressed at a 0.00. Hard to say unless we see the free's, as they are the active thyroid hormone in the body.

are you seeing an endo?

i'm wondering why free t4/free t3 wasn't done.  endos always order free t4 and tsh when monitoring thyroid replacement; that seems to be the standard.

you could have high free t3 and/or high free t4.  any combination of these can cause an emotional roller coaster.  you need to have another thyroid panel run that measures free t3 and free t4 considering your symptoms are so troublesome.  you sound like you're really struggling.  

you need to get these labs drawn so that you can determine whether it's thyroid-med related or not.

hang in there and get those labs done.

Laura I had my doctor fax my lab results so here goes:
TSH: 0.00
TOTAL T4: 6.81  Range 4.50-12.00
T-uptake: .89      Range .66-1.27
TT3:  1.09           Range .80-2.00

I know my TSH is low but I am on Natur-throid which is the same as Armour. I was on the Armour but after they switched to the new formula I started having heart palps. Never for the first the 8 months I was taking it did that happen until starting the new formula. I have been doing pretty good on the Natur-throid but like I said previously I am an emotional person always crying for no reason it's crazy. Any suggestions!

I have had Hashimotos for almost 30 years and my moods still go up and down. Tonight, nothing is going right not supper or the pie  I baked or anything anyone says. I just am so upset and depressed. I try to rationalize this and pray tomorrow will be better. Getting regulated is important but as we allknow our thyroid has a mind of its own and will go up or down at will.

Where are your levels at right now? Do you have a copy of your most recent lab results? How long ago were they done?
Unfortunately our thyroid levels do affect our other hormone levels and emotions. It should level out once you are at a stable level for a while....it does take time though.
