About how long before Cytomel kicks in

Just had latest results from FT3 today - still low 2.1 and this one was flagged low.  Waiting on antibody tests
to come next few days from hospital.  This is the 3rd FT3 test to come in low since the end of July.  I got my
psychiatrist to run this for me. Should asked him up front before , he sure was more cooperative.  He agreed that
sometimes the MD's like to hide us under the antidepressant cover.  He said a little thyroxine can work wonders
for people............Looking forward to seeing my new endo Oct. 7th.  Maybe some can tell me how they responded
to cytomel and how it relieved symptons.,thanks,
Carla

Carla, I guess you haven't had any luck getting in to the endo on a cancellation, huh?  I'm sorry about that, but it's not too far off now.  Please let us know about your antibody tests - at least that's a start and if they are positive, you have something to go on.

Well it's getting closer to appt. time.  It sure take time to investigate all these angles.
I'm glad to hear that cytomel has helped you some - but I am sure you want to
clear the other symptons up...............hopefully my antibody test will come back
tomorrow.,
best to you, will be checking in with you to see how you are doing with your
new endeavors.,
best to you,
Barb,
Carla

I take cytomel also along with my T4 med.  It's also been a Godsend for me.  I does start working right away, but even at that it can still take time to alleviate all the symptoms.  After 9 months on it, my symptoms have not all gone away.  I'm still dealing with fatigue, constipation, etc and beginning to wonder if I need to look in a different direction to find the cause.

I have an appt tomorrow with a new pcp --- am hoping it goes well and I can get some more tests run..........

dispensing that type of treatment...................good idea....

The Cytomel was a Godsend for me! It took symptoms away immediately. Free T3 is the most active form of thyroid hormone. free t4 converts to free t3
A lot of thyroid patients depression is relieved by T3 meds added to their T4 meds, as well. Didn't your psychiatrist write you a script to take knowing your t3 level is soooo low????
I would fax over your results with a note to your endo asking for T3 meds now.....not later.
