Thyroid cysts + enlarged lymph nodes?

My husband (38) has been having occasional twinges of pain in his left upper neck since summer. Recently he also started to complain about some joint pains in different part of his body, and he got scared. An ultrasound showed two small (<2cm) benign cysts in the thyroid and somewhat enlarged lymph nodes on that side of the neck, that were otherwise normal. There's no visible lump.
Can the cysts alone be the cause for the inflamed lymph nodes, or could it be something else?

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, hope your operation went well!

My hubby got his blood results back, and they were excellent all round, not a thing was off. He was given a short course of glucocorticoids and antibiotics, during which the neck pain almost disappeared. As soon as the glucocorticoids course finished though, he's been getting pains again - twinges that come and go in his neck, underarm, one side of the pelvis/hip and behind one knee, and he's a bit worried again...
Somehow I can't think the thyroid cysts, as small as they are, could cause all this. But surely, if there was something really wrong, it would have showed in the blood results?

Go get a second opinion.  I went to my ENT and he told me I did not have cancer.  I went to an endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid and oncology, she did the ultrasound herself, my thyroid nodule was 1.8 and my left lateral lymph nodes were completely cancer ridden.  My lymph nodes were clear a month ago. My surgery is next week. Do not waste time debating and discussing get a second opinion and get it biopsied. Good Luck!

Sorry, I made a mistake: the cysts are only 5 mm and 2 mm, the lymph nodes are 10 mm and 18 mm.
