I agree with you; after 10 years, it's unlikely to suddenly have become a problem. The only possibility I see is that the ring has changed in some way. You might give a call into Merck to see if it's changed at all. The ever-merging drug companies may have seen fit to change something in one of the acquisitions.
I'Ve been on 125mcg of synthroid and the Nuva ring for 10 years. My levels have been solid, hanging around 1. Only in past 8 months have my levels been hanging around 10. My doctor thinks it;s because of my Nuva ring. Why would this be the case after 10 years? Thoughts?
Usually if someone is on birthcontrol pills, you will require more thyroid medication. Estrogen interferes with the binding of the thyroid medication. Just try to take the lowest dosage possible of birth control. If your thyroid is regulated properly, your pms should get much better if that is an issue. I haven't heard many good things about Yaz or Yasmine....my doctor wanted me on Yasmine until I said no way. I am now on low dose microgestin.....it doesn't have a mood altering drug in it like Yaz or Yasmine.
I'd avoid Mirena like the plague as I totally blame this for my nodule having grown so massive!! I had it fitted for heavy bleeding which is related to the thyroid. Good luck as am outta faith in artificial hormones- that said - maybe plain ol' IUD ok? x
There is alot of very valuable reading that cautions thyroid patients on the use of BC.
Yaz is one that is spoke of often. You may want to check out researched information more before continung that form of birth control.
Not exactly, but before I became hypot. I had the implanon bar in. I was convinced it did something to my thyroid but the doc. wouldn't listen. I stil am kinda convinced that its connected some way but I may aswell be speaking to a door knob! Id love to know if ant other people havte the same problem???
Sorry wasn't much help to your question but I thought it might be some way connected??
Yes it does fluctuate your thyroid. I am sure Stella will help answer this question. Hopefully she'll check this if I post it ahead a little. I stopped taking mine. My periods are much better now, just not the pms. LOL
