cough meds and hypothyriodisim
I can not stop coughing!!! I know I have a goiter, and it irritates my throat sometimes. But right now I have a cough and congestion. I can not rest and my 5 month old keeps waking up because I cough so hard I almost throw up. I need something to help quiet my cough so everyone can get some rest. HELP
if you do not have bleeding problems take the aspirin.If the thyroid inflammation caused the cough (common for these with thyroiditis), the aspirin may reduce it
If you are on thyroid meds - cough medicine are not very good. Sometimes they can not be avoided - but it is best to try simple methods to relieve it.
I suggest this: take 1 heaping tablespoon of pure honey every 4 to six hours. In between that - you need to cut the mucus building - so drinking spearmint/peppermint tea is good. Mint herbals are a know mucus cutter and the honey reacts as a natural antibiotic. Plus honey is thick and will sooth that cough.
