Hashimoto/Thyroiditis

I'm female 58, diagnosed in 2005 with Hashimoto thryoiditis by Endo. Sonogram in same year indicated small hypoechoic nodule involving the left lobe measuring 3 mm in width. No focal lesions are seen in the right thyroid lobe or the isthmus. I will have new Sonogram this week.
Impression: Moderately enlarge thyroid gland with mostly homogeneous parenchyma.
Had been on Synthroid and T4 and TSH were within normal limits. In January 2008 switched to Armour. For 4 months T4 has been between 1.4 and 1.5, (range 0.8-1.80, TSH 4.33 to 2.94 (range 0.40-4.50). Thyroid tests last week indicated T4 1.2 but TSH 5.95.
PCP decided to keep Armour dosage unchanged.
I will have Thyroglobulin AB and Thyroid Peroxidase Tests and 25-Hydroxyvitgamin D Tests this week.
Do you agree with PCP and should we wait to see results of above tests?

Question: Is it normal or common for TSH to jump as it has? I have been jumpy with lots of energy for the past 6 weeks or so. Some sleep disorder (waking up and can't go back to sleep for 2-3 hours), have increased appetite.
Many thanks.. Kaz474

Did they tell you what your T3 level was?  What dose of Armour are  you on?  The T3 level is important as that is what the T4 converts to in the body.  If your T4 is level but your T3 is not, then there is a problem in the conversion.  Ask for the T3 test, also.
